Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord
A Holy Day of Obligation
On Thursday, May 14th, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord.
Forty days after His Resurrection, the Lord Jesus ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. As the Catechism teaches, Christ’s Ascension marks the definitive entrance of His humanity into heavenly glory and the beginning of His reign.
This is a Holy Day of Obligation. The faithful are obliged to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
