Pope Francis (1936 – 2025)

Friday, May 2, 2025

O God, immortal shepherd of souls,
look on your people’s prayers and grant that your servant Pope Francis,
who presided over your Church in charity,
may, with the flock entrusted to his care,
receive from your mercy the reward of a faithful steward.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Guidance for the Faithful During the Nine Days of Mourning and the Election of a New Pope

The death of a pope is a deeply moving time for the Church, marked by sorrow, gratitude, and hopeful trust in the Lord. As we enter the novendiales, the nine traditional days of mourning, the faithful are called to walk together in prayerful reflection. These days are not simply a time to grieve, but an invitation to renew our faith in Jesus Christ, the true Shepherd of the Church.

Our pastor, Father Hage, has been appointed by Bishop Lucia as Diocesan Delegate for the new Vocational Synthesis Year instituted by Pope Francis for all diocesan seminarians studying for the priesthood. He will be receiving a Certificate in Pastoral Supervision for Missionary Discipleship through The Seminary Formation Council of the United States. This Certificate will prepare Father Hage to serve as a mentor and coach for young men approaching ordination to the priesthood. Father Hage will serve as the Bishop’s delegate while remaining the Pastor of Mary Mother of Our Savior Parish.

The third module for Father Hage’s accreditation program will take place this week from Monday, May 5th until Friday, May 9th in Chicago.

Our parochial vicar, Father Pawel, will be available for any pastoral emergencies that might arise. Please know that when Father Hage is away for this program, he is not on vacation. He will still very much be working and will be available by way of phone, email, text.

Holy Hour for Vocations with Bishop Lucia!

Thursday, May 1, 2025

May 12, 2025 at 5:30pm
(The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception).

Gather as a Diocesan Family and Pray for an
outpouring of Vocations for our Diocese!

World Day of Prayer for Vocations.

The purpose of World Day of Prayer for Vocations is to publicly fulfil the Lord’s instruction to, “Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest”.

As a climax to a prayer that is continually offered throughout the Church, it affirms the primacy of faith and grace in all that concerns vocations to the Priesthood and to the Consecrated life. While appreciating all vocations, the Church concentrates its attention this day on vocations to the ordained ministries, consecrated life in all its forms, and to the missionary life.

**Please see the Parish Online Calendar for the Most Updated Schedule. Events and Canceleations**

What are Youth Ministry Nights?

Our Youth Ministry Nights (YMN) consist of games and snacks, followed by a short faith message. Then the teens form small groups to talk about that topic in a safe, honest, authentic way with their peers.

This is a highlight of the night, to hear from peers about the faith, to share doubts and questions and to be lifted up and encouraged in their faith in God, all guided by an adult core team member. Then we go to the chapel for a short prayer service and end with an awesome dinner!

We also make sure to include social nights once a month. Social Nights may include: Movie Nights, Camp Fires, Holiday Parties, Trips/Teen Outings like GetAir, Retreats, Service Opportunities and more...
