The Rev. Joseph Salerno is a native Utican. He is presently the Pastor of Mary, Mother Of Our Savior in New Hartford. Educated locally, he claims Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish as the Catholic parish of his beginnings.
Fr. Joe holds a B.A. degree in Sociology from Maryknoll College and a Master of Divinity Degree from St. Michael’s College in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
He has worked at various assignments in the Diocese of Syracuse during his more then 32 years as a Catholic Priest. Locally, he has sat on the boards of Hope House and St. Joseph's Nursing Home and he is currently chaplain to both the Utica Police and Fire Departments.
Our Finance Committee is chaired by Fr. Joseph Salerno. This consultative body is composed of those appointed parishioners who have demonstrated an expertise in finance.
The body consults and advises our Pastor with respect to items such as the annual budget, financial reporting, long-term financial planning, debt and debt management, high-level expenditures, fund-raising, personnel administration and governmental regulatory matters. The Finance Committee meets monthly.
