Volunteering in Our Parish

Many Gifts, Many Talents

“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. But one and the same Spirit produces all of these individually to each person as he wishes.”
1 Corinthians 12:4-7, 11

Parish ministers are...

  • Interested in and concerned for other people.
  • Friendly, warm, and accepting of others.
  • Willing to be part of parish community on equal terms with others.
  • Prompt and faithful in attendance.
  • Willing to try new ideas.
  • Able to share their knowledge and experience.
  • Ready to make a commitment and give of themselves.

As a parish, Our Lady of the Rosary has many of the resources necessary to manifest the love of God in our community. However, no one person can or should do it all. Each of us as individuals has an important part in parish ministry.

Our parish has already established many ministries. Learn more about them and decide if you have the time and skills to participate.

Perhaps you are aware of some unmet need that requires a response. Our parish is always ready to start new ministries if there is leadership.

A basic requirement to formally participate in a parish ministry is the completion of the Diocese of Syracuse's Volunteer Application. In addition all volunteers who work around children are required to have a background check and attend the program, "VIRTUS, Protecting God's Children".

How to Volunteer in a Parish Ministry

All you have to do is call or send an e-mail. The rest will happen for you!

  • Call the parish office or e-mail for information or assistance in matching the your interests with parish ministries.
  • Fill out the volunteer inquiry form. We will get in touch with you to arrange a Ministry Interview.
  • Ministry Interview will be arranged with Father Jason Hage or the appropriate ministry coordinator to finalize ministry placement.
  • General Orientation by ministry coordinator will take place.
(If Virtus Training is required, information on how to register will be provided).
  • Specific training will be given to you for the ministry that you will be providing. This will be to familiarize you with the details of the service you will be providing. This training will be ongoing as often as you and the ministry coordinator feel it is needed.

Our goal is to support you with your ministry.
