The Climate We Create Together
October in Central New York brings plenty of changes. The leaves change color, the temperatures begin to fall, and before long, we're debating when to turn on the heat! But while we cannot control the temperature outside, we have a great deal to say about the climate inside our parish.
Every parish has a climate. And every parishioner helps set it.
Last weekend, I reflected on one of the central convictions of Vision 2031: A Parish on Mission: “Hospitality is not merely something we do. It is who we are.”

Dilexit Nos — “He Loved Us”
- Rediscovering the Heart of Jesus
- Four Wednesday Evenings with Sheila & Doug Ambrose
- What does the Heart of Jesus have to say to the human heart today?
In a world that moves quickly and often leaves us distracted, overwhelmed, and disconnected from one another, Pope Francis offers a simple but powerful invitation: return to the heart.
In his final encyclical, Dilexit Nos (He Loved Us), Pope Francis reflects on the human and divine love of the Heart of Jesus Christ. It is one of the most personal and spiritually rich writings of his pontificate an invitation to rediscover just how deeply we are loved by Christ and how that love can transform the way we pray, relate to others, and live our faith.
Along the way, Pope Francis speaks to some of the deepest questions of modern life:
- What is at the center of my life?
- What am I really searching for?
- How do I remain rooted in Christ amid so much noise and distraction?
- And how can the love of Jesus renew our families, our Church, and our world?
Whether you have a longtime devotion to the Sacred Heart or are encountering it for the first time, this series is for you.
Join Sheila and Doug Ambrose for four engaging evenings of reflection, conversation, and faith as we discover the treasures of Dilexit Nos together.
Never read a papal encyclical? No problem!
There is no required reading or preparation. Handouts will be provided.Come as you are. Slow down. Go deeper. And rediscover the love at the very heart of our Catholic faith.

Your RMD Can Make A Difference
Did you know your IRA can be another way to support the mission of our parish?
If you are age 70½ or older, you may be eligible to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish. If you are required to take an annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), an eligible QCD can count toward that requirement while potentially offering valuable tax benefits.
More importantly, your generosity becomes an investment in the mission and future of our parish.
Through Vision 2031: A Parish on Mission, we are working to build a vibrant Catholic community for generations to come forming disciples, welcoming new families, strengthening our ministries, serving those in need, and faithfully caring for all that has been entrusted to us.
As you plan your RMD this year, prayerfully consider making Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish part of your charitable giving.
To learn more or receive the information needed to make a gift from your IRA, please contact the Parish Office at (315) 724-3155.
Together, we are building a Parish on Mission.
Please consult your tax or financial advisor regarding your individual circumstances.

Supporting Our Parish Through Online Giving
Help strengthen the mission of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish by signing up for online giving. It’s secure, convenient, and ensures your support continues even when you are away from Mass.
Your generosity helps us plan better, serve better, and build a strong future for our parish. Thank you for your faithful support!

All Souls Mass of Remembrance
Monday, November 2, 2026 - 6:00pm at Lourdes

Please call our Parish Office at (315) 724-3155 no later than October 26th if you and your family plan on attending this Mass.

You do not need to have everything figured out. There is no pressure and no obligation just an invitation to come, ask questions, and discover where God may be leading you.
OCIA gathers twice a month on Sunday mornings at the Seton Center, 2 Barton Ave., Utica.

Hope Appeal 2026
Together, We Give Hope
OUR PARISH GOAL: $97,968
LET’S REACH IT BY DECEMBER 31!The HOPE Appeal is one way we live out our shared mission as Catholics. Together with parishes throughout the Diocese of Syracuse, we can accomplish far more than any one parish could accomplish alone feeding the hungry, forming young people in faith, supporting vocations, caring for the sick, and bringing the hope of Christ to those in need.
EVERY GIFT MATTERS.
If you are able, please prayerfully consider a gift of $250 about $21 a month.
$250 is an invitation, not an expectation. Like the widow’s mite, every gift offered in faith matters. Whatever you are able to give, your participation makes a difference.
HELP US CELEBRATE!
If we reach our $97,968 goal by December 31, Father Hage will host a parish-wide ice cream social with all the toppings!
Thank you for your generosity and for being part of the mission we share.
Return your pledge card in the collection basket or to the parish office, or give securely online: syracusediocese.org/hopeappeal
